Lake Wicwas Association
We’d like to invite you to join the Lake Wicwas Association (LWA). The LWA is the only entity whose sole purpose is to maintain and promote what is best for the health of Lake Wicwas, something that is important to every waterfront property owner and to anyone who uses and enjoys the lake. Our committees and members represent us in town governance and in dealings with various NH state departments. We test the lake’s water quality, keep a watch out for invasive plant species, participate in the annual loon survey, and provide informational brochures at the boat launch. We fight for conservation and appropriate zoning around the lake, and provide information to our members on a variety of water-related issues, such as wildlife, safety, septic design, and legislation that will affect property owners. Our goal is to protect the lake and your property values, and to ensure that your family can enjoy Lake Wicwas now and in the future.
We are members of the NH Lakes Association, and with their help we have established a Lake Host program at the Lake Wicwas boat launch. The program is designed to help prevent an infestation of milfoil or other exotic species. We are one of the few lakes in our area to have avoided a milfoil contamination, and the tens of thousands of dollars that would be required to contain an outbreak if it were to occur. LWA dues supports the hours of coverage for the Lake Host program. Voluntary donations help build our capacity to respond to emergencies, such as reacting quickly in the event of a milfoil outbreak or another threat to the lake.
Please consider joining our association and helping us in our efforts to protect Lake Wicwas. Our goal is to have 100% participation by lake front owners to facilitate communication and to build a strong community. We have a business/informational meeting once a year, usually on the first Saturday in August. We ask members to contribute dues of $20 a year for each adult household member; any additional contributions are greatly appreciated, and go directly into our emergency fund. If for any reason you prefer not to join the association or contribute dues, but would like to receive lake and association news, please provide us with your contact information and we will do our best to keep you informed. We hope you will join the LWA, and we encourage your active participation at whatever level you choose.
Thank you,
Tom Crane
